Our Red Bears group caters for the age ranges 3 -5, although this can vary depending on the individual child’s stage of development. We provide the ratio of one nurse to every 6 children in the Red Bears.
The room where the Red Bears play, contains all the materials necessary to prepare your child for school. It is a large room with numerous toys (e.g. Lego, train sets, dolls, drawing and painting materials, books, jigsaws etc.) and many fun group activities. Here, the children will enjoy circle time for singing and group games, or they can relax and play freely, deciding which toys they like to play with.
The Key Person allocated to your child will complete a detailed curriculum plan based on the standard Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) set by OFSTED.
These focus on 3 Prime Areas:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
And 4 Specific Areas:
- Understanding of the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
All our organised activities in the nursery are focused on helping your child to develop in all these areas, paying special attention to their strong areas and preferences. Every child is unique, so it is our aim to support your child in enhancing their potential as much as possible at this important early age.
Fresh air and playing outside is paramount for a child’s well being, so we encourage this as much as we can. Normally the children will play in the nursery garden at least once a day as well as frequent trips to the beach, local parks and the library.
